Thoughtful architecture,
human-centered outcomes
Lumin Architects was founded by Lucy Kuhar in response to how residential architecture is often delivered. Too frequently, projects become visually led, technically fragmented, and disconnected from how people actually live in their homes.
Working across family homes and small residential developments, Lucy established Lumin to place clarity, wellbeing, and long-term performance at the centre of the design process. The studio brings together strategic thinking, careful design, and technical rigour to support projects from early feasibility through to delivery and compliance.
Lucy’s leadership has been recognised with the Women Leaders Award in the Construction and Manufacturing category, acknowledging her contribution to the built environment through thoughtful, people-centered work. Lumin’s projects have also been featured in leading property and design publications.

Our Design Philosophy
We believe wellbeing is shaped by the spaces people inhabit every day. Light, proportion, material choice, thermal comfort, and spatial flow all influence how a home feels to live in and how a residential scheme performs over time.
For homeowners, this means creating spaces that feel calm, intuitive, and supportive of everyday family life.
For developers, it means designing residential schemes that are comfortable, durable, and carefully considered. Places people want to live in rather than simply pass through.
In our work, wellbeing is not treated as an added layer. It is embedded from the outset through how we approach layout, daylight, sustainability, and long-term performance.
Our Unique Approach
Our approach is deliberately structured to reduce uncertainty and support clear decision-making throughout a project.
We work closely with our clients to understand priorities early, test options thoroughly, and translate design intent into buildable, compliant solutions. Whether supporting a homeowner through an extension or guiding a developer through feasibility, planning, technical design, and compliance, our role is to bring clarity at each stage.
The result is architecture that feels calm in use, robust in delivery, and carefully aligned with both human needs and practical constraints.
